BEAUMONT – Lamar Institute of Technology has changed the date of its December graduation ceremony to Dec. 17 at 7 p.m. in the Montagne Center.
The need for Lamar University to have two graduation ceremonies means that LIT has to move its ceremony up one day.
Ira Wilsker, president of the LIT Faculty Senate and program director of LIT’s management development program, will speak at the December graduation.
Wilsker has been an instructor on the collegiate level for 32 years, and is a tenured faculty member at LIT. He teaches courses in business, business law, business ethics, small business, retailing and marketing among others. He also teaches non-credit courses through LIT’s Workforce Training Department on various computer subjects.
He also has been a full-time host of “My Computer Show” on KLVI since 1998, and was part-time host before that. Wilsker also writes a weekly computer column that is distributed nationally and is published locally by The Examiner.
He neared an associate’s degree from Montgomery College in Takoma Park, Md., bachelor’ of arts and sciences degrees from The University of Maryland in College Park, Md., and an MBA from the Graduate School of Business and Management at the University of Maryland.
LIT’s May 2010 graduation date also has been changed to May 13, 7 p.m., at the Montagne Center.
