BEAUMONT – Students from the Restaurant and Institutional Food Management program at the Lamar Institute of Technology will cater the Mamie McFaddin-Ward Birthday Tea on Thursday, Nov. 5, at the McFaddin-Ward House Visitors Center, 1906 Calder Ave.
Visitors to the center that day will receive a free tour of the house in honor of McFaddin-Ward’s 114th birthday. Hours for the tours and the tea are from 10 a.m. to noon, and then 1 to 3:30 p.m.
This is the second year that LIT students have catered the birthday tea. In order to make the event as authentic as possible, program director Linda St. Cyr had the students research proper etiquette, customs and refreshments for a social tea. Some of the foods served will be taken from McFaddin family recipes.
The menu includes an assortment of sandwiches, sweets and tea.
